Lin Xi Visits Faye Backstage on March 6

Lin Xi  (林夕 aka Albert Leung) visited Faye Wong backstage before her March 6 performance in Hong Kong. See Faye’s blog, Veggieg, for March 7. They had a fun conversation. Faye, at one point, asked, “Why don’t you play with micro-Bo?” Lin Xi smiled and said, “I don’t know what to write. But I focus on your posts every every day. Ah, I know what’s happening in your life quite well because of your micro-Bo! You asked me to try microblogging, and I tried it, but I still don’t know how to use it. Ha ha.” Lin Xi is a song writing genius. He was the lyricist for many of Faye’s greatest hits, including all twelve tracks in Fable (Oct. 2000):

1. The Cambrian Era (Han Wu Ji; 寒武纪) – music by Faye Wong
2. New Tenant (Xin Fang Ke 新房客) – music by Faye Wong
3. Chanel (Xiang Nai Er 香奈儿) – music by Faye Wong
4. Asura (A Xiu Luo 阿修罗) – music by Faye Wong
5. Flower of Paradise (Bi An Hua 彼岸花) – music by Faye Wong
6. If You Are False (Ru Guo Ni Shi Jia De 如果你是假的) – music by Eric Kwok
7. I Don’t Love Anyone Who Doesn’t Love Me (Bu Ai Wo De Wo Bu Ai 不爱我的我不爱) – music by Adrian Chan
8. I Like It More Than You (Ni Xi Huan Bu Ru Wo Xi Huan 你喜欢不如我喜欢) – music by Pan Hsieh Ching
9. Goodbye Firefly (Zai Jian Ying Huo Chong 再见萤火虫) – music by C Y Kong
10. Book of Laughter and Forgetting (Xiao Wang Shu 笑忘书) – music by C Y Kong
11. Firefly (Ying For Tsoong 萤火虫) – music by C Y Kong
12. Love Letter to Myself (Kup Ji Gei Dik Tsing Shue 给自己的情书) – music by C Y Kong

Lin Xi wrote the lyrics for nine of the ten songs in Di-Dar (Dec. 1995):

1. Di-Dar – music by Faye Wong
2. Vacation (假期 Gaa Kei) –  music by Faye Wong
3. Lost Track (迷路 Mai Lou) –  music by C Y Kong
4. Scandalous (曖昧 Ngoi Mui) –  music by Chan Siu Ha
5. Perhaps ()或者 Waak Ze) – music by Alex San
6. I Think (我想 Ngo Seung) – music by Cheung Yah Tung
7. Enjoy (享受 Hoeng Sau) –  music by Suzuki Syoko and Tozawa Toshimi
8. One Half (一半 Yat Bun) –  music by Viktoria
9. Untitled (無題 Mou Tai) –  music by C Y Kong

Lin Xi also wrote the lyrics for Faye’s cover of Tori Amos’s “Cold War” (冷戰) in Hundred Thousand Whys (Sep. 1993); “Century of Loneliness” in Lovers and Strangers (Sep. 1999); “Red Bean” (music by Chong Yan Liu) in Chang You (Oct. 1998); “Bible for Two” (music by Wu Bai) in Faye Wong 2001 (Oct. 2001); and many other songs.

We can only hope that they will get together soon to collaborate on more songs for a new album. Together, Faye, Lin Xi, and C Y Kong are a magical trio!
