‘Those Flowers’ Revisited

Here are two live videos of Faye’s cover of Pu Shu’s (朴树) “Those Flowers” (那些花儿, Na Xie Hua Er), released in September 2003. They are from her 2004 Beijing and Shanghai concerts. About four years ago, we had quite a discussion on different versions of this song. See Those Flowers – A Mystery?, Three Different Versions of ‘Those Flowers’, Jeffrey827′s Comments on ‘Those Flowers – A Mystery?’, and Those Flowers – No Longer a Mystery! Some of the links in these old posts are no longer working.

  1. This is one of my favorite songs of all time by Faye. Does anyone have a translation of the lyrics to it? I tried to translate them through Google Translate and this is what I came up with:

That piece of laughter reminds me of a blossom of flowers that once belonged to me
Quietly, in every corner of my life, while I was driving,
I thought I would always be beside her
Today we have gone back to be in the vast sea…

They are all Lao Leba; they are…where you are
I was fortunate enough to be there for them to open

*La la la… la la la… la la la like her
La la la… la la la… was she still opening up?
La la la… la la la… la la la off to…
They have been taken away by the wind, scattered to the horizon*

Some of the stories have not yet finished then forget it
The mood in those years that have passed true and false, right and wrong
Now there is no profusion of flowers all grassland
Fortunately, you have a Spring, Summer, and Winter

They are all Lao Leba; they are…where you are
I was fortunate enough to be there for them to open

    [Repeat *]

    Lu…
You like being blown away, inserted into the End of the World

They are all Lao Leba They also open up
    We just… Their horizon

It’s pretty scattered and fragmented. Can anyone out there do better? Please.
