There have been so many rumors about Faye and Nic getting back together since their divorces that it’s hard to believe that this isn’t just another one. But it seems to have a ring of truth. Asian E-News Portal reported yesterday that Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) and Vicki Zhao Wei (趙薇) will both be in Paris to film the Emperor Group’s Xijiang TV program.
The key bit of news is that Shu Qi (舒淇) and Faye Wong (王菲) will be joining Vicki to attend the the 2014 Winter Paris Fashion Week show. The possibility of Nic joining the three is what’s causing all the media commotion.
Update: Here are photos of Faye, Vicki, and Shu Qi at PFW:
Still no photo of Nic Tse at PFW.
Update: A photo of Nic in Paris 3/4/14.
However, in the meantime, here are some photos from 2000-2003 when Faye and Nic were dating. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Faye more radiant. There was chemistry between the two, and it radiated.

According to Amy Li (“Faye Wong urges ‘end to forced demolition’ after Fuzhou temple torn down,” SCMP, 11 Dec. 2013), “Diva, pious Buddhist, and influential blogger Faye Wong called for “an end to forced demolition” on Weibo on Wednesday morning after a historic buddhist temple in Fujian province was torn down against the will of its resident abbots.”

In Beijing on 19 May 2013, at the memorial concert held in honor of the late Teresa Teng, Faye Wong sang four of Teresa’s songs, including “Qing Ping Diao” and “Du Shang Xi Lou.” While performing “Du Shang Xi Lou,” Faye said, “Teresa was my mentor who brought me into the music scene.” The second video below, which runs 3:27 (uploaded by Baogaliao Mall), is my favorite of the lot. Faye is much looser and relaxed, and this is when she’s at her best. Some media are mistakenly reporting that Faye stumbled and fell. However, it’s obvious that she took a slightly shaky step, quickly recovered, and was never in danger of falling. It was, in fact, barely noticeable. And she smiled — she didn’t “laugh” as some reported. Faye is always gracious, and grace in motion. Much thanks to those who uploaded videos to Youtube, especially Baogaliao Mall. You’ve made it possible for the rest of us, throughout the world, to see and hear Faye in this historic tribute.

[Note: The following excerpts are from “Faye Wong to Sing at Concert Celebrating Teresa Teng’s 60th Birthday” (Asian Fanatics, 11 Apr. 2013). The original source is Sina. The English translation is by sparkles_n15 @ asianfanatics.net. The photos are from Sina and a video uploaded to YouTube by Cyberwarriors69 on 7 Nov. 2012.] [Update 5.20.13: click here for videos of the 5.19.13 performance.]
The Teresa Teng Foundation will be holding a concert to celebrate what would have been the singer’s 60th birthday. One of her lifelong dreams was to hold a concert in China, but it was never fulfilled before her untimely death. To honour her wishes, the concert will be held in Beijing in May. Faye Wong has already been confirmed to sing at the concert.
At the press conference on April 9, Teresa’s brother and chairman of the Teresa Teng Foundation, Teng Chang-fu, expressed that in her lifetime Teresa had three regrets. One was not completing her education, the second was never wearing a wedding dress, while the third was not having the chance to perform in Mainland China. However, Mr. Teng said that Teresa was always very studious. While she may not have worn a wedding dress, she did wear a white gown at one of her concerts in Japan and subsequently ‘married her music’. He says that he has been working with her foundation in Taiwan to fulfil her last request. The project titled ‘Chasing Dreams ~ Forever Teresa Teng’ will hopefully help her accomplish her dreams of holding a concert in China.
Li Yapeng attended the press conference yesterday on behalf of the Smile Angel Foundation. He says that when Faye was 14, her first cassette album was a cover of Teresa’s songs. As one of Teresa’s fans, she will be singing 4 or 5 of her songs at the concert.
Set list!!
「清平調」 The ‘duet’ with Teresa that was supposed to be on Decadent Sounds
「獨上西樓」 ‘Alone in the Western Chamber’
「水上人」 ‘Boat People’
「初戀的地方」 ‘Place of First Love’
Woops, small correction. The duet is actually an unreleased song from Teresa that was only half recorded before her death. Faye will sing the second half.

Faye Wong’s daughter, Dou Jing Tong, released a ballad, “On the Beach,” on YouTube on 9 March 2013. Tong Tong, also known as Leah Dou, wrote and composed the song. The song, the performance, the performer — all beautiful. Not surprising from the daughter of Faye Wong and Dou Wei — both musical geniuses. Here’s the note she attached to the video: “Promised some of you a video so here it is haha nothing serious just a simple tune I wrote a long time ago. Again if you like it, leave a comment or hit that like button for me :) Have a nice day.”

Leah Dou’s “With You,” uploaded to YouTube by Leah on 26 Feb. 2013. Comment attached to the video: “Hey guys, My name is Leah. I’m 16 and this is my First original song, if you like it leave a comment or hit that like button and you’ll make my day :)”

These rare Faye Wong photos are from Xinhuanet 5 Apr. 2013. For most, Faye’s career began in Hong Kong in 1989, with the album “Shirley Wong,” released by Cinepoly in November. She was 20 then. Her fans, though, know that her career began much earlier, in Beijing, when she recorded a number of cover albums from 1985-87. See our earlier articles on this period:

Hey Feifan. You are a long time faye fan and I have been waiting/searching for the smile angel concert download for a year and I couldnt find it… I dont know anyone anymore who might help me find it, perhaps you can help me out.
Faye did a smile angel concert where she performed schuberts serenade and heart sutra. until now there is the horrible cut in the beautiful schuberts serenade. I would really like to have this performance (or DVD) in full. Could you try to look for it or request it from someone who has it? Or know a place to get it? I would pay that person a little money if he or she requires it.
greets,
y.A.S.d.
P.S. i dont know how to send you messages in private, perhaps you can give me your mail?
___________
Hi y.A.S.d. The 1 Dec 2011 SmileAngel charity concert in Shanghai featured Faye in an amazing performance with Germany’s Philharmonie der Nationen. Chelsea posted a message and video, Chelsea – Faye Sings Schubert’s ‘Serenade,’ the next day on 12.2.11. I’m assuming you’re looking for a better quality recording. Hopefully this post will produce one. In the meantime, I’ll do a search, too. My email is feifan@wild4music.com, but I don’t check it as often as I should so this is the quickest way to reach me — a comment in Faye Wong Today.

To: feifan
Hi Fei Fan,
This is Nick from Hong Kong. I just came across your website/blog for the first time today. It’s an excellent website. Great job!
I just wish to know more about Faye Wong. I haven’t been a fan for that long but I’m now convinced that she’s the best! I went to her most recent concerts in Hong Kong.
I wonder if you could help me. Do you know the exact details about her 1998-1999 Scenic Tour ?
I know she performed 17 shows at the Hong Kong Coliseum from December 1998 to January 1999. She then went to perform in Mainland China for the first time with 11 shows in various cities, including Beijing and Shanghai etc.
Do you know the exact dates, venues and cities for the China leg of her Scenic Tour ? If so, please tell me what they are. Nobody seems to remember them.
Many thanks and regards,
Nick.

Nick, my apologies for the long delay in responding. I’ve been researching, off and on, your question re “the exact dates, venues and cities for the China leg” of Faye’s Scenic Tour 1998–99. The video from the New Year’s Eve HK show is my all-time favorite Faye concert performance. As far as I can tell, the 11 concerts were held in the following 8 mainland China cities:
Oct. 10-11, 1998: Guangzhou, Tianhe Stadium (2 shows)
Oct. 20, 1998: Shenzhen, Shenzhen Stadium (1 show)
Nov. 27-28, 1998: Beijing Capital Indoor Stadium (2 shows)
Dec. 12-13, 1998: Shanghai, Shanghai Sports Centre (2 shows)
Jan. 22, 1999: Foshan, Stadium (1 show)
Jan. 31, 1999: Dongguan, Dongguan Stadium (1 show)
Oct. 9, 1999 Zhuhai, Zhuhai Stadium (1 show)
1999 (1998?): Kunming (1 show)
As you can see, I couldn’t fund much on her Kunming concert — assuming there was one. Also, all this data needs to be checked and verified by others since I’m not sure about its accuracy. Hopefully, others will be able to enlighten us. Since nearly 3 months have passed, you may already have the information. If so, please share it with us.
